Description
Bakhtiari rugs are tribal rugs that were characteristically woven for use by the tribe or by commission among the wealthy and powerful within Persia. Because they were rarely produced for export before the 1930s, large Bakhtiari rugs offer lanolin-rich, extremely durable wool and luminous colors, which were procured through a thorough knowledge of dyeing, using natural vegetable dyes. Bakhtiari rugs typically feature a multi-segmented field with an exquisite range of colors and motifs, though all-over fields are found on occasion. It has been treated with an antique wash, softening its tones to appeal to the palette of any modern-day home.
