About Herkimer Diamonds: Despite their diamond misnomer, Herkimers are are actually six-sided, double-terminated quartz crystals. Among the Mohawk and Iroquois Indians these crystals were symbolically important as amulets of power, protection, success, health and long life. As early as the 1700”s, settlers have been mining Herkimer Diamonds because of the gem stones diamond like clarity, natural facets, and double termination. The original miners thought they had found diamonds. Unscrupulous jewelers during the Civil War often tried to pass off these stones as the more precious variety. Herkimer Diamonds are the most powerful of all Quartz crystals. Being doubly terminated, they have the ability to not only transmit their own energies, but to receive spiritual energy and to amplify and focus it intently. Called an “attunement stone”, it is useful for attuning to another person, group or environment.
About 14k gold fill: 14K gold filled wire is a professional jewelers grade wire. Gold filled wire is not plated. It is a tube of solid 14K gold mechanically bonded to a brass or silver base. There is 100 times more gold in gold filled than in gold plate wire. This layer of gold must be a minimum of 1/20th of the total metal weight to be called gold filled. The color looks exactly like 14k gold. It is tarnish-resistant, safe for sensitive skin and unlike gold plate, it will not wear off. It is a great way to enjoy affordable gold jewelry.
